10 Things To Do on the Day of Your Wedding

Hello LexHouse babes and welcome back to the blog - or if you’re new here, W E L C O M E!

Today, we are talking about a list of things you HAVE to do on the day of your wedding. This post is a little lengthier than normal so grab some coffee and get cozy while you read!

You plan for months on end making sure everything is perfect for the day you say “I Do.” The reality is that sometimes you get so wrapped up in making sure everything else is perfect, that you neglect yourself. Your nerves are flowing through your body so quickly. You feel excited to walk down the aisle and see the person of your dreams standing at the altar, waiting for you. You’re overwhelmed with happiness that all of your friends and family are all going to be in one location, celebrating your love. Everything is finally coming together and happening all within the next couple of hours! The question is - how do you cope with all of these emotions and make sure your day goes as smoothly as possible?

We’re here to walk you through it! Just follow these simple steps and we promise, it will make all of the difference. Let’s get started.

  1. Leave yourself plenty of time to get ready! If you and your party are getting your makeup and hair done together, you want to start early enough so that you aren’t rushing. It’s better to be early than late. You want to have enough time to take pictures before the ceremony starts!

  2. Eat something! As anxious as you are, we know it’s hard to eat anything but trust us when we say, just do it! There’s nothing worse than being hangry or getting buzzed super fast because you have an empty stomach. Even if you can’t bring yourself to eat a big breakfast, have some snacks while you’re getting ready. DO avoid salty things - we don’t want you to bloat or retain water!

  3. Get a good night’s sleep the night before. We know, it sounds cheesy but you would be surprised how many people actually don’t do this! It’s fine to party the day before and celebrate / appreciate your parties company at the rehearsal dinner but don’t get too crazy! The worst is being hungover on your big day. - Thank us later for this one!

  4. Make sure you have a day of emergency kit. If you have a day of coordinator, they will likely have one already prepared for you but if not - make sure you have essentials packed and ready to go. Essentials including: bobby pins, hair ties, mini deodorant, tums, tissues, chapstick, mints, Advil, and water. Of course you can add more to the list or adjust accordingly.

  5. Relax & Pace Yourself! Easier said than done, we know. You should have absolutely nothing to worry about if you have an amazing day of coordinator. We know it can all be a lot to take in but let them worry about your timeline along with the last minute details. You’re getting married! Drink some mimosas and get pampered. Simpin ain’t easy - but you better make it easy on this day! You have a long day ahead of you so remember to take it easy. After your ceremony - it’s free range!

  6. Take private time for you and your spouse! Enjoy your dinner together. Use this time to talk amongst the two of you. It can be overwhelming during your reception since everyone wants to talk or congratulate you but you guys need time for yourselves. Sneak in those kisses and dance together. You want to be able to enjoy the party.

  7. Give yourself some time to soak it all in. This is YOUR day. It’s finally here! Take a moment to breathe it all in and enjoy it.

  8. Have a designated cell phone person. You should NOT be worried about answering questions on the day of. This is what our maid of honor, mother of the bride, or even your planners are for.

  9. Don’t sweat the little stuff. Accidents or mistakes happen. It’s normal and OK - just roll with it. There’s no need to stress over it. Your planners will be there to take care of any situation that may come up throughout the day so you don’t have too!

  10. Do a first look of the reception area before guests come in. If you have time to do this, we definitely recommend it! It’s the perfect time for you to make sure everything is set how you envisioned it. It also allows you and your spouse to practice your first dance one last time before you do it in front of your guests.

If you’ve gotten this far in the post, thank you for reading! Our goal here at LexHouse is to make sure that you are fully prepared for the day of your wedding.
