For vendor love piece for this week we have out spotlight on the one and only Alex Telson Designs! She specializes in creating your dream wedding florals into the most beautiful masterpieces right before your eyes. We had the opportunity to ask the owner some questions - both about the business and some fun/random questions. Follow along to see her answers!
1. Tell us a little more about Alex Telson Designs?
Alex Telson Designs is a wedding florist company who loves to make every event we work on stunning for each one of our clients. We are located in Orange County, California and travel all over to work with each couple to help them realize their wedding dream and turn it into reality on their special day.
2. What is your favorite type of arrangement to make?
One of our favorite arrangements to design is the sweetheart table for the couple. We love to create a romantic setting for them to sit and enjoy their reception surrounded by a table full of the flowers and colors that they selected. This is the time that the couple can truly enjoy their wedding day vision come to life.
3. What is your pricing like?
When you select Alex Telson Designs as your wedding florist, we try and help you save as much money as possible by repurposing your flowers from your ceremony area to the reception area, because we know that flowers are one of the most expensive items for a wedding. With the flower shortage still in effect and demand still high, our pricing starts around $3,000.
4.What drives your passion?
Ever since I was little, I have had a love affair with flowers. Now as a professional florist, I now know which flowers to use for each season, which flower can last the longest and how to keep each flower alive longer. Every day I get to play and create with flowers, is a great day.
5. What is your favorite flower to work with and what is the most difficult flower you have worked with?
I have tons of different “favorite” flowers that I love to work with, but one of my favorites is a ranunculus. I find them delicate and stunning in each color they come in. Each ranunculus has it’s own individuality that is unique unto themselves. One of the most fickle flowers that I have worked with is a hydrangea. You can soak them, you can care for them, but sometimes they will just droop with the slightest bit of heat on them and then they look so sad.
6. Favorite cocktail?
When it comes to adult beverages, I love a good fruity drink with an umbrella in it, but once someone offers me a glass of champagne, I can never refuse! Champagne is one of my favorite drinks!
7. Favorite restaurants?
One of my other passions is life besides flowers, is food. I love to eat! I have a few favorite restaurants within Orange County that I love to go to. For a good Italian meal, I love to visit North Italia in Irvine, CA. Their ink squid pasta is amazing and they have a great cocktail called the Julietta. If you are in the mood for the BEST avocado toast and vanilla latte OC, head over the Zinc Café in Corona Del Mar.
8. What is your favorite quote?
I have a few favorite quotes that I like to recite, and having two daughters, I try to lead them down a path of kindness, so the one quote I tell them most often is from Maya Angelou, “I have learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” As someone who works with flowers, I know I will leave every event making each couple feel loved and adored, surrounded by beautiful colors, textures and gorgeous flowers.
